Del Mar Heights is a popular community in Del Mar, California. It is known for its hilly landscape and close proximity to the beach.

Del Mar Heights is comprised of several million dollar estates with a variety of styles and floor plans. It is located in the city’s southern region and rests on a hillside that gradually descends. Residents enjoy many amenities as well as views of the valley and ocean. This neighborhood is bordered by Carmel Valley, Del Mar, Solana Beach, and Torrey Pines.

This community is served by the Del Mar Union School District and the San Dieguito Union High School District. Students may attend highly ranked Del Mar Heights Elementary, Earl Warren Middle School, and Torrey Pines High School. Some families choose private schooling from facilities such as the Winston School of San Diego, St. James Academy, and Del Mar Montessori. There are several colleges within minutes such as MiraCosta College.

Located just minutes from Interstate 5, Del Mar Heights is great for commuters and shoppers. On both sides of the freeway you will find many stores and restaurants. There are a variety of merchants at Beachside Del Mar, Del Mar Highlands Town Center, and Piazza Carmel Shopping Center.

There are several golf venues in this region like the Grand Golf Club and Palacio del Mar Golf Course. To the south is the Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve which is said to be one of Southern California’s wildest stretches of land on the coast. Visitors enjoy hiking and exploring as well as imagining the state as it was before settlers.

Del Mar means “by the sea” or “of the sea” in Spanish. In 1885 Colonel Jacob Taylor bought 338 acres to build a resort for rich and famous residents. City attractions include the Del Mar Racetrack, the Del Mar Antique Show, and the Torrey Pines State Beach.
